Our theatre café is run by World of Barista and open daily from 9 AM until 6 PM, and is also open until later on evenings with events.
Grand Theatre is located in Groningen city centre and easily reached by bicycle or public transport. The website of the City of Groningen has all the required information about parking in the vicinity and elsewhere. We recommend getting to Grand Theatre well on time. Please note that once performances have started, the doors to the seating areas are closed.
We make every effort to make our historical building accessible to all. Our theatre café is accessible for wheelchair users, there are adapted toilet facilities, and our Benedenzaal can be accessed via a wheelchair lift at the rear of the building. The Bovenzaal, Balkonbar and Studio unfortunately are more difficult to reach.
If you would like to visit one of our activities and use a rollator, another walking aid or a wheelchair, or you have difficulty walking, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be able to tell you whether visiting the event is possible and perhaps also reserve a seat or spot for you.
Language No Problem
Our Language No Problem events are in English, with subtitles or without any speech. Therefore they are suitable for non-dutch speakers.
Purchase tickets online or at the theatre café ticket desk. You cannot make reservations, nor can tickets be ordered by telephone. Tickets may be exchanged until five days before the date of the performance. The VSCD general terms and conditions for visitors apply to our ticket sales.
We accept Podium Cadeaukaart gift vouchers. However, they can currently only be used for online ticket purchases.
Students and CJP
If you present a valid student ID card or your CJP card, you will receive a €5 discount on nearly all of our performances.
Young visitors and schools
In collaboration with SPOT, during the school holidays in autumn, winter and in spring, we present the very best children’s theatre and other fun activities for children aged between 2 and 12. Read more about our holiday children’s theatre programme, Jeugdtheater in de Vakantie.
Would you like to visit our theatre as a school group? Together with the North Netherlands Symphony Orchestra (NNO), SPOT, Het Houten Huis and the Groninger Museum, we have created the Cultuurmenu for primary schools. This Cultural Menu features various activities that can take place at school or on location. For more information, see Cultuurmenu Groningen.
For just €36, curious visitors can join our GrandVerwanten programme for a theatre season. We select at least six performances that GrandVerwanten may visit free of charge. Also included are other great benefits, discounts and surprises. Although you can no longer sign up for this season, be sure to do so in June for the 2020-21 theatre season. Please note: this programme is for Dutch speakers only.
De Grote Harten Club
Together with the Jonge Harten Festival, at the beginning of every season we go on the lookout for ten young people to join De Grote Harten Club. We will be visiting performances with them, investigating what theatre is and what more it could be.
