Try Out: A Choreography of Making

    • language no problem
  • What do we make? How do we make? And why? Where does our urge to make come from? What inspires us? With these questions as a starting point, a group of forty artists & designers collectively created Try Out: A Choreography of Making. During the Salone del Mobile (April the 19th and 20th) a stream of objects, appliances and (moving) images will fill the space of Mare Culturale Urbano in Milano and at the same time in Grand Theatre Groningen. Both days there will be an online connection between the places of making in Milano and Groningen.

The participants jointly present their work in a theatrical presentation in which they “turn mirrors into windows”. The audience get an insight in and will become part of the professional backyard of the participants. The light installation by Andre Pronk forms the basis for the exposition in Groningen and Milano. A video-installation shows the answers that these professionals gave to the question: ‘What do you make?’ The colourful collection is shown as a theatrical installation. It represents a world of inspiration and thoughts about design. Visitors are invited to contribute to the collection by filling ‘bee hive’ cabinets with small objects.
